Teaching

In my research I connect philosophy with contemporary issues. As a philosophy instructor, I similarly take my main aim to lead students to theory as a result of their own reflection on both social issues and everyday assumptions. My teaching experience includes Introduction to Ethics, Medical Ethics and Ethics and Climate Change. I use a variety of in-class discussion group, ethics committee, formal debate and group presentation assignments to engage students in discussion with their peers. I use political examples, YouTube clips and films to link ethical theory with real-world issues. In teaching evaluations, students praise the level of engagement and discussion I create in the classroom, along with my preparedness and enthusiasm for the material.

The majority of my teaching experience is in applied ethics, but given my knowledge and experience I would also be able to teach Introduction to Philosophy, Critical Thinking, Social and Political Philosophy, 20th Century Continental and 19th Century German.

Here you can find syllabi for courses I have recently taught.
